The Moldovan-Romanian Relations in Agriculture and Rural Development

On the occasion of visit of the Romanian Prime Minister, Mr Victor Ponta on July 17, 2012, the delegation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Romania, headed by the Minister Daniel CONSTANTIN had a meeting with his counterpart from the Republic of Moldova, Mr Vasile BUMACOV.
During the meeting, the parties examined the current stage of the jointly launched projects and of the project of significant interest for both parties:
• The veterinary standardization;
• Creating a wholesale agricultural border market in Sculeni, Ungheni with a view to facilitate the cross border agricultural trade;
• Logistic assistance for implementation of conservation agriculture;
• Collaboration for processing and export of melliferous products in the European Union;
• Installation of an anti-hail system at the Romanian border, so as to cover the unsupervised territories of the Republic of Moldova at the western border with Romania and identification by Romania of financial sources for this purpose;

Mr. Petru MALERU, who was also present at the meeting, mentioned the Tripartite Agreement signed between AIPA and the Romanian payment agencies: APIA and APDRP, which provides for a joint action and institutional collaboration plan. Valid until 2013, the Protocol lays the foundations for exchange of experience related to the efficient management and building of the capacities to absorb European funds for agriculture. The funds will be available since 2013-2014 and AIPA will develop procedure guidelines and regulations according to the European accreditation criteria. In this context, the Minister Vasile BUMACOV stressed that Romania’s experience in managing pre-accession funds – SAPARD is essential for AIPA and its collaborators.
